Wendy's Old Fashioned Burgers is one of today's most popular fast food chains founded
in 1969 by Dave Thomas. Today, Wendy's has around 6,600 locations all around the
globe and is considered as the third biggest hamburger fast food chain worldwide.
Around 70 percent of Wendy's restaurants are currently franchised. While Wendy's currently sets the standards for its worldwide operation, food menu and quality, individual franchise owners have total control over interior decor, work hours, staff uniforms, prices and wages.
The Wendy's food menu is typically made up of chicken sandwiches, hamburgers, fries,
and beverages. Wendy's may not have a signature dish like Whopper or Big Mac, but
the square patties used in the sandwiches are considered as their signature item.
The Wendy's chili recipe is an award winning side dish made up of good meat, rich
sauce and lots of fiber.
Everybody loves a good cup of chili with a hamburger on the cold winter months.
Today, you can have your very own flavorful Wendy's chili without having to drive
over to the restaurant. With the help of this copycat recipe, you can now cook a
healthier version of the chili without the premade mixes and extra calories.
Over the years, the company has continually changed and improved their Wendy's chili recipe. But this version here is a great copy of the chili. You can also top it with cheddar cheese and chopped onion leaves for an awesome finish.
For this recipe, you will need two pounds ground beef, one 29 ounce of tomato sauce,
one 29 ounce pinto beans (with liquid in it), one 29 ounce kidney beans, a cup of
diced onion, half a cup of diced green chili, three medium sized tomatoes (chopped),
two teaspoons cumin powder, one fourth cup of diced celery, three tablespoons chili
powder, two teaspoons salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons of black pepper and two cups water.
As soon as you have gathered all the ingredients for Wendy's chili recipe, prepare
a skillet over medium heat.
Sauté the ground beef in the pan until it turns into golden brown.
Make sure you drain off all the fatty oil after.
With a fork, crumble the beef into pea sized pieces.
In a huge pot, combine all the beef and the remaining ingredients.
Bring to simmer with low heat.
Stir the pot every fifteen minutes to avoid the meat pieces from sticking at the bottom.
Slow cook for the next two to three hours.
If you want your Wendy's chili to be extra hot, feel free to add more black pepper into the mixture.
If you want it to be extra spicy, you may also add one half teaspoon of black pepper and a teaspoon of cayenne pepper. And if you want it to be a total stinger, add five to six sliced jalapeno peppers to the pot.
This recipe makes about twelve servings. Leftovers may be stored in the chiller for
months.
The Wendy's chili recipe is also an easy slow cooker meal. The same ingredients
mentioned above can be used for this slow cooker meal.
If you are using dried beans, it is recommended that you simmer the beans in boiling water for about thirty minutes.
After boiling the beans, turn off the heat and let it soak in the solution for another 90 minutes.
Drain the beans and then add to your pot.
Mix all the ingredients in the pot and cook on low heat for at least ten hours or
when the beans are soft.
A large Wendy's chili weighing about 340 grams contains 310 calories, 9 grams total
fat, 3.5 saturated fat, 1330 mg sodium, 10 grams dietary fiber and 26 grams of protein.
The Wendy's chili dish is an amazing combo of chili beans, ground beef, chili base, vegetables, corn syrup, and natural flavorings. You can always substitute ground beef with something less fatty like turkey meat or chicken.
Dinners can now be enjoyed at home with Wendy's recipes and Olive Garden recipes that can be found online.
